James Flight: Tranmere Rovers, Bootle and more

Today I spoke with Tranmere Rovers and Bootle youth player, James Flight, about the recent Youth Cup tie I attended vs FC Halifax Town and his development in the Rovers and the Bucks squads.

Me: You entered the Youth Cup for Tranmere in the first round vs Halifax. Did you know beforehand what you were coming up against?

James: We had watched some clips of them beforehand and we knew that we had to be at our best to beat them.

Me: In the end, the game finished 3-1. What was your analysis of the game?

James: I thought we had a nervy start with it being a big game, but we found a winning formula and I think our fitness and quality got us over the line in the end.

Me: Seemed from your side a very professional performance from you guys, how well did you prepare for it, because I know one was a training friendly against another team you’re at, Bootle?

James: I think we prepared as much as we could in training and in the analysis room we had a real game plan for every stage of the game.

Me: Through to the next round, how eager are you and excited for the tie ahead?

James: I can’t wait for the next round at Lincoln City, who will be a very tough test at their place. We’ll have to be at it.

Me: How much do you enjoy your football at Tranmere?

James: At the minute, I’m really enjoying it. We’ve got a great group of lads here at the minute.

Read the match report from Prenton Park here.

Me: While playing for Tranmere, you’re at Dave Jones’ Bootle U21s also and have been involved playing in the first-team. Is this a challenge at all for you? How do you go about juggling both teams?

James: It’s tough training and playing six days a week and on occasions playing a game and training on the same day, but now my body is getting used to it.

Me: How are you enjoying your football for Bootle?

James: Loving it! We’ve got great lads here and Dave (Jones) is a quality manager and person. He is someone who I think can help me develop further as a player.

Me: Had a decent start to the season, looking to improve even more against Stalybridge Celtic at home Sunday. Thoughts on that game?

James: It’ll be a tough game they but I believe we can get a result a push on to hopefully be in the running for the title come the end of the season.
