Litherland REMYCA Reserves relinqushed as FC Bootle hit ‘REMY’ for nine
A dazzling desplay from FC Bootle saw them down Litherland REMYCA Reserves 9-2 at Litherland Sports Park, with the score as great as 5-1 at half-time.
The contest awoke as some gallant defending by Dylan Westerside kept ‘REMY’ at bay early on but subsequently it was FC Bootle who landed the first blow as a sublime strike from long-out by a Bootle man flung past a hapless Gerard Gustafson.
Gustafson was beaten a further twice in a matter of moments as the visitors stretched their lead to three just after the half hour mark. A delightful chip by Brad Shearwood gave Bootle their second and the third from Mark Madden when a cross-turned shot flew over Gustafson.
A lifeline was restored for ‘REMY’ when a calmly slotted penalty by Graham saw the deficit reduced to two and a Elliot Taylor chance almost creaked in for a second for the hosts however, Paul Willis was equal to the goal bound chance.
The rampant FC Bootle added a further two before half-time to read the scoring as 5-1 before the break. Karl Bergvist scored the fourth, racing through the ‘REMY’ defence before pounding last Gustafson then the fifth was scored by Madden, who chalked up his hattrick. Madden, the provider for the penalty, was able to step up and send the hapless keeper the wrong way.

FC Bootle regained their overriding dominance on the game, scoring a sixth in a matter of moments in the second period. Madden turned provider however, his cross was failed to be cleared by Kearney who the ball rebounded off and into the back of the net.
Lennon Whewell reduced the arrears once more, this time to four, when the ‘REMY’ frontman rounded keeper Paul Willis and tapped home into an empty net to grab REMYCA’s second.
Madden added a further two to his account and a seventh and eighth to FC Bootle. His first a tidy finish after being assisted by Karl Bergvist before the eight by Madden was the FC Bootle man being first to react after Gerard Gustafson parried out an effort to punish again the ‘REMY’ defence.
Rounding off the scoring, ‘REMY’ picked the ball out of the net for a ninth time in the latter stages off the game. A calm finish by a FC Bootle substitute made it humiliation for the ‘REMY’.
There was still time for a tenth for the visitors and after almost connecting with a ball across the face, Garry Law watched the ball agonisingly fly away from his grasps.
