Rylands routed by Hyde as Tigers reach Second Qualfiying Round of the FA Cup

Two goals from Tom Pratt and further strikes from Jack Redshaw and Eddie Brown condemned Warrington Rylands to a 4-0 defeat at home to Hyde United in the FA Cup to see the ‘Tigers’ progress in the FA Cup and saw Rylands leave at the First Qualifying Round stage and end their three game winning streak.

Hyde laid seige on the Rylands goal straight from the off and their first opening was Liam Tongue audacious volley dashing metres wide before they took the upperhand by scoring the first goal after 5 minutes, when Tom Pratt placed out of Will Appleyard’s reach courtesy of a slick through ball by Eddie Brown.

It was two to the visitors in a matter of time after Appleyard was caught off guard when he was dispossessed in the area, with the Rylands keeper presenting Hyde with a spot-kick after bringing a man down in the area - with the resulting penalty being slotted away by Jack Redshaw, sending Appleyard the wrong way.

The ‘Tigers’ extended their advantage to three after 17 minutes. From a Rylands attack, Eddie Brown and Tom Pratt again linked up in-front of goal with Brown slotting through Pratt, with the Hyde man powering into the corner.

The Hyde onslaught continued as on two occasions in a matter of seconds, they almost calved out a fourth. Bradley Roscoe had two strikes, his first cannoned off the post before his second drifted away from goal. Then Callum Spooner’s strike diverted goalwards was thwarted on the line by a Rylands man in the nick of time.

Gio Bellagambi was called into action for Hyde as Rylands first sights of goal both coming from Ryan Brooke. Brooke woke up Bellagambi after a fizzing effort stung the palms of the keeper before Bellagambi was down low to deny Brooke’s second bite of the cherry after he got his shot off courtesy of some brilliant link up play with Brooke and Drummond.

Another chance went wasting for Rylands before half-time in search of reducing the deficit as a valiant Hyde defence managed to curb multiple efforts on goal by the hosts before the final chance in that passage was scooped by Gio Bellagambi.

Rylands continued where they left off at the start of the second half and continued their pursuit of finding a way back into the contest. Callum Dolan’s fiersome cross picked out Ryan Brooke, but the Rylands striker was unable to guide his header on target.

After two assists already to his account, Eddie Brown got his opportunity to strike on goal and he duly converted, rifling into the bottom left corner to seal Hyde their fourth of the game.

Will Appleyard was able to stop Brown from claiming his second and Hyde’s fifth goal, with a powerful low drive by Brown being parried away by Appleyard.

Pratt was inches away from chalking up his hat-trick with twenty minutes left, as a delicate free-kick over the wall landed on the roof of the net.

Another few Hyde efforts threatened the Rylands goal in a matter of moments. Eddie Brown dragged a shot wide from the edge of the area before a flying effort by Tom Pratt kissed the outside of the post. Brown had another gift-wrapped chance in the closing stages, with a vigorous effort blazed high over the bar.

The day went from bad to worse for Rylands, as a scuffle after a rash challenge resulted in David Webb being shown a red card.
