Jebrin and Miller's goals see Breck past Burscough

Second half goals from Jawad Jebrin and Sean Miller saw Lower Breck pick up their first win at home this season, beating a determined Burscough side 2-0 at Anfield Sports in a closely fought contest.

In a game not shy of chances, the game began rapidly with both sides having feasible chances to gain an upperhand in the game. Joe Holt almost got Breck off to a perfect start, with his lobbed effort landing in the roof of net.

Burscough’s first opportunity of the match came when Harry Hagen was sluggish in possession with Ashley Ruane latching onto the mistake and drove  at the Breck defence, with his eventual effort stinging the palms of Matt Wallace.

The away side attacking antics suggested they were alarming going forward, with another missed chance rued by the visitors. Edward Servuts snatching at a dropping ball, but his best efforts to alter the strike on target were in vain, with it slicing wide. Minutes later, an acrobatic effort by Nathan Koehler was splendidly tipped away by Matt Wallace. 

From then on the hosts took control for much of the half, with John Swatton glancing a Michael Monaghan corner-kick goalwards, but James Dineley was equal to it, dashing himself low to tip it away. Also, new signing Stuart Crilly poking inches wide after a through ball by Jawad Jebrin. Another new face Paul Speed gliding a shot anchored towards the top corner, but it fizzed wide.

The first chance of the second half fell to Lower Breck, with Michael Monaghan spinning a Burscough defender to strike goalwards with the effort flashing past the post. 

Robert Oseh troubled the Breck defence with a run down the right, dodging challenges from a couple of players and his dangerous cross was caught on the volley by Edward Servuts, however the Burscough striker just couldn’t catch it sweetly. 

Lower Breck made the breakthrough with fifteen minutes before the end as a teasing Stephen Milne ball across the face was tapped home by Jawad Jebrin from close range. 

Breck almost cut open Burscough again, with Stephen Milne ball across the face almost falling to Michael Monaghan who was ready to pounce, but a Burscough defender got their in the nick of time to thwart the Breck from a second. 

The Breck thought their second goal had come when Jebrin netted again from a similar position to his first, but the linesman judged the assistor to be offside. 

The spell of Lower Breck persistent chances created continued when Michael Monaghan, peeling in from the back post headed marginally wide. 

The second goal came for the Breck when Sean Miller delightful free-kick nestled into the top right corner from 30-yards out. 

It was almost a third for Lower Breck. Stephen Milne brushed past several Burscough defenders only for his shot to be denied by James Dineley from close range, but the follow up by Sean Miller, looking for his second of the night, was scuffed and flew wide. 

Burscough’s chance to half the deficit fell to Junior Dos Santos - his low drive trickled into the side netting.
