Promotion battlers serve up bore draw at Deepdale
Preston North End were the dominant side in this promotion-battling encounter with Nottingham Forest that served up no goals but some really great chances.
The first chance fell to Forest with Jack Colback unleashing from distance and it trickles wide of the post without any real trouble.
Preston almost scored a screamer of their own. Ched Evans 25-yard effort flew just over the crossbar.
Preston had several spells of dominance, with Ethan Hovarth, the Nottingham Forest keeper being kept busy.
Preston’s captain Alan Browne had a gaping opportunity to score, rounding Joe Worrall but his take shot was comfortably picked up by Hovarth.
James Garner, the Manchester United loanee, had a brilliant chance for Nottingham Forest but his fierce strike was right down the throat of Daniel Iversen in the Preston goal.
Cameron Archer had two brilliant chances to give the hosts the lead. Firstly, Ched Evans slotted the Preston forward in but a full-stretched keeeper was their to parry it out. Then Archer latched on to a through ball by Brad Potts to be one-on-one with the keeper, but placed it wide of the post.
More Preston pressure as another long-ranged chance for Ched Evans was marginally wide of the left post.
The away side piled on the pressure in the closing moments with Djed Spence beating a couple of Preston defenders but his low cross avaded Brennan Johnson and Sam Surridge in the middle.
