Avro’s last- minute goal shatters resilient Breck
A last minute free-kick by Avro helped the side from Manchester to rescue a point at Anfield Sports Centre, drawing 2-2 against a resilient Lower Breck.
The game began slowly, with neither sides threatening each-other’s abode, but Breck seemed the most assertive side going forward with plenty of crosses and corners that forced Avro men to throw their bodies on the line. The hosts had the first opportunity as Connor Rankin’s long-ranged effort was comfortably saved by Grant Shenton.
The high-flying visitors began to weave their way into the game and for the first time in the game, Theo Roberts was forced into some splendid stops. Joe Rathbone’s shot was tipped round the post before a big saved by Roberts denied Enock Likoy.
Both sides had chances to take the advantage, with Connor McCarthy blazing one over the bar for Lower Breck before the visitors were back on top.
Likoy missed another chance after picking the pockets of the Breck defence before the Avro 9 was there to give the visitors the lead on half-time after placing the ball into the corner, out of a stranded Theo Roberts’ reach.
