Breck dominate Sefton in pre-season opener at the 'Anny'
In the ‘Breck’s’ first pre-season game of the season, they comprehensively defeating last season’s Liverpool County Premier champions Sefton Athletic 4-1 at Anfield Sports.
In just the opening minute, Stephen Milne caught a dropping ball, volleying it sweetly but just wide of the post.
A penalty by Milne gave Lower Breck the lead, after the ‘Breck’ number 9 made the spot kick, colliding with the Sefton keeper.
Lower Breck almost double their lead when a Stephen Milne ball was misjudged by the keeper, his attempt to kick it out collided off Tom McNamara, but luckily for Sefton it bounced just wide of the post.
The Breck eventually took their two goal lead as John Swatton placed a low volley into the bottom left corner.
Tom McNamara trebled Lower Breck’s lead when he ran clear of his marker and powered home a header from a corner swung in by MJ Monaghan.
Then the new signing Monaghan had a couple of chances, his first from a through ball by Stephen Milne in which he just dragged wide. The latter was a looping ball, in which he took down and was well blocked by the Sefton defender.
Sefton’s first threat on the Breck goal fell to Adam Kelly. The Sefton mans dipping effort flew over the bar.
Tom McNamara almost doubled his tally for the game, when he went through one-on-one with the Sefton keeper, who made himself big to push it round the post.
Sefton pulled a goal back when Adam Kelly bundled in a shot which hit a ‘Breck’ defender en route to hitting the back of the net.
Keiran Holsgrove scored the ‘Breck’s’ fourth as he nestled a forceful shot into the roof of the net.
