Advantage Rylands after Workington beaten at Marine
Goals from Jack Dunn and Lewis Reilly sent Marine on their way to a 2-1 win against Workington to give their slim title-hopes alive and leaves Workington two points behind Warrington Rylands with two matches left to spare.
Marine started with total control, knowing a win could still keep them in contention for the crown and affirm their play-off spot. They so nearly struck twice, with the first from Ben Hughes’ header but it flew just over Jim Atkinsons’ goal. After 6 minutes, Marine had another chance and it was clear to see they had the ascendency. James Barrigan slotted through Lewis Reilly, who turned onto his left foot and blazed over the bar. Marine took a deserved lead on the balance of playas a in-swinging cross by early substitute Jack Dunn, Ben Hughes was there to greet a delightful cross into the area and he guided his header into the back of the net.
The Mariners were in cruise control and added a second minutes after the first. James Barrigan’s freekick was controlled by Lewis Reilly who volleyed past Jim Atkinson.
Workington halved the deficit right on half-time after a Nic Evangelinos strike from the edge of the area flew past Bayleigh Passant and into the corner.

The 'Reds' started the half as Marine done the first and laid siege on Bayleigh Passant's goal. Firstly, David Symington paced forward from the right and his fierce strike cannoned of the post. Then, Reuben Jerome warmed Passant’s gloves with an effort on goal, before the 'Mariners' cleared the danger. Workington continued to pile on the pressure. A cross across goal narrowly avaded Workington men coming in. The Reds goalscorer Evangelinos twisted and turned some Marine defenders before firing over the bar.
Five minutes left to play and Marine soaked up the 'Reds' pressure had two efforts to grab a third. Jack Dunn’s overhead effort drifted narrowly wide of the left post, then Dunn again had another effort on goal, a ferocious volley striking the post.
