Pesky Bulls move clear of relegation after Trafford win
A double from Kyle Sambor and further goals from Jack Goodwin and Ian Kearney secured Prescot Cables a 4-2 win at home Trafford, moving 6 points clear of the Northern Premier League West relegation zone.
Trafford started lively and drew Mitchell Allan into an early save just five minutes in after a clean strike by the away side and again just on the stroke of half an hour, with early substitute Rob Worrall's effort being saved initially by Allan before a scramble resulted in a Cables freekick.
Lewis Buckley was sent clean through for Prescot by a lovely Jack Goodwin ball, but he blazed wide from close range before Trafford regained their attacking prowess.
Trafford’s Mike Burke had a lively spell in the game, sending warning sides to the hosts. The Trafford front-man's first effort fizzled wide of Mitchell Allan’s post after beating a couple of Cables defenders before missing another golden opportunity. He almost capitalised on a poor Prescot Cables backpass, ultimately his shot was dragged wide.
Two minutes before the break, Cables drew first blood through a fine header by Kyle Sambor. He rose highest from a concise cross from the right flank by Harry Cannon-Noren.
Trafford equalised minutes later after capitalising on another defensive error by the Prescot backline, with Alfie Belcher being on hand to tap home past Mitchell Allan.

The second half started slowly, with neither side threatening the goal until just on the hour mark and it turned into a goal for the home side. A great corner was bundled in the area with Trafford only being able to partially clear it to the path of Ian Kearney, who fired past Matt Cooper in the Trafford net.
Prescot soon scored a third and Kyle Sambor grabbed his second of the match. A Cables man beat a few Trafford men before his attempted cross was again scrappily cleared by the visitors to the edge of the area to the dangerous Sambor, who dragged his shot into the bottom corner out of Coopers' reach.
Trafford’s first goalscorer Belcher warned the Cables defence with a flying shot from range, which required saving by Mitchell Allan. The Cables 'keeper managed to reach the shot, tipping it just wide of the post by. Trafford didn't have to wait long, as Mike Burke reduced the deficit to just one with a beauty. From around 30-yards out, his scooped effort flew over a hapless Mitchell Allan.
But Cables swiftly replied with a fourth goal and secured the three points swiftly in the bank. An initial effort was blocked but Jack Goodwin was quickest to react to the loose ball to arrow his effort into the net.
